Rachna's Note
November 2002
Dear Reader,
If you've been reading this newsletter for a while
you will have noticed a shift in format over the past
couple of months. I've been doing some experimenting. :)
though I think we'll stick with this format for a while
now.
This month has been very busy for me, as my new book
has been published, and my business continues to grow
and flourish. I've been interviewed for several national
magazines & newspapers over this past month and invite
you to check these out - I will send details, ongoing,
in future issues of this newsletter.
At the time of year where we give thanks for all the
blessings in our lives, I want to take a minute to thank
you for making "Excel with Ease" a part of your life. We've
just passed the 6th month mark of publication, and it's exciting
to look ahead and think about where we'll be 6 months from now!
Take good care, have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and I'll see
you next month!
Warmly,
Rachna

Are the Gremlins driving the truck?
(c) 2002 Dr. Rachna D. Jain

As I've been coaching my clients through the past couple of weeks, I've noticed that many of them are making huge strides in the direction of their dreams. For example: Rachel is building her ideal practice, Tom is getting more balance in his life, and Rosemarie is on her way to creating the career she's always wanted.
What's equally interesting is that for Rachel, Tom, and Rosemarie, the process of reaching their goals looks very similar: lots of movement, action, things starting to happen, and then there is a decline or drop in action and motivation… And this similarity is occurring even though their individual goals are quite distinct.
Noticing this pattern, I began to wonder why this is. I started to notice that, each time the action would decline or stall, it was because the Gremlins (those negative, whining, critical voices we carry around) had gained control of the truck. When the Gremlins are in control, we all begin to wonder if we'll succeed, we worry that we might be over-reaching ourselves or that others will be upset or hurt by our actions. The Gremlins have only one purpose - to keep you safe (and small). You never have to worry about playing in the big game when the Gremlins are in control.
Are there times in your life where you've noticed that you are
moving towards something you've always wanted, when, all of a sudden, it seems like your progress comes to a screeching halt? Sometimes, this might be necessary, you might be waiting for some more information, a new tip, or a new resource…other times, though, doesn't the "stall out" happen because you've begun to doubt your idea and whether you have the intelligence, skills, or ability to create what you dream of?
It happens to all of us, at one time or another. When you feel like you're like a truck that is stuck in neutral - not really moving forward, though not sliding back, it's time to take a look into the driver's seat and see who's gotten control of the steering wheel. If it's a little green guy with big eyes, and big teeth, and a loud, critical, nagging voice tell him to get out of the car and catch a bus to no where.
On a one way ticket.
Regain control, and keep moving in the direction of your dreams. The dreams you want also want you.
