Well, the year continues to move ahead full speed. This past month

has been a time of new insights and a lot of decision-making - not

all of it easy, but hopefully, all of it positive.

This issue's article focused on clarifying what you want now,

and I hope it will help you make some positive decisions

Clarifying What You Want Now

The past month has been a time of intense reflection for

me in both my personal and professional life. I've been

pondering the changes I'd like to make in my life and have,

in some cases, jumped fully into making these changes. In

some cases, this has gone really well, and, in some cases

not so well.

What I've learned over this past month is that it's

important to clarify what you want now. Sometimes, we decide

we want something and pursue it fully, without truly

clarifying why we want it and why it's important to have,

now.

In my case, the want had to do with buying a house. I

decided a few months ago that I wanted to buy a house and

have been looking diligently since then. As you may know,

the housing market is very competitive right now with

houses going (at least in the Metro-DC area) for $10,000 or

more over the listing price. It's like people are making up

numbers! I mean, you don't go to the grocery store and offer

to pay $5.00 for a $2.69 gallon of milk, right? (Unless, though,

there are only 3 gallons of milk and 500 people wanting them,

as one of my friends pointed out).

In any case, I put offers in on two houses and lost out on both

which felt frustrating and annoying. I'm pretty sick of looking

at houses by now and wasn't sure what I wanted to do.

When I started getting clear I realized that buying a house

is important to me but that it wasn't something that had to

happen now. Much more important, to me, is finishing up my

next book (on overcoming rejection) and enjoying the

summer.

Once I got clear on what I wanted - now - it became much

easier to let go of the stress and turn my attention to

other areas.

If you're feeling stuck or frustrated in some area of your

life start by asking yourself, "What do I want, now?" or

"What is most important to me right now?" then take your

next actions based on that information.

If it takes a while to get clear, don't worry, just by

asking the question, you're already on your way to finding

the answers. Clarify what you want, now, and you will

eliminate areas of unnecessary stress or tension. By getting

clear on what you want, you'll be sure that you're moving

closer to it.
