Dear Excel with Ease Subscriber,
Welcome to our August issue. Thanks for joining us. I'm
thrilled to write you this month, as I celebrate the one year
“official” anniversary of my coaching business. As some
of you may know, beginning a new business can be intense,
hectic, and scary. I'm really pleased to have passed this
“first year” mark, and look forward to making this next year
better than the last.
I'm pleased to announce the formation of a new dissertation
coaching group. Email coach6-22144@autocontactor.com
for more details. Coaching groups are a cost-effective way to
create high impact results.
Oh, and before I forget, this month's issue focuses on
creative problem solving. Try these tips and find
great solutions!
I look forward to your contest entries and I'll see you
again in September.
Warmly,
Rachna
p.s. THANK YOU for passing this newsletter on to
your friends and family. I value your willingness
to share this newsletter with people you care about.

Creative Problem Solving: 5 tips in 5 minutes

1) Cultivate a playful mindset.
The greatest creativity comes when we can approach life
as a game-there are no rules. The more relaxed, light and
at ease you can be in your thinking, the more creative your solutions.
2) Make use of techniques such as brainstorming or mind-mapping.
Both of these techniques are useful for generating many possible
solutions in a short amount of time. The key for these techniques,
though, is that you allow ALL your ideas to flow. Don't censor them
before you put them down on paper.
3) Generally, the more possible solutions, the better.
Again, you want to go for quantity when you're trying to find
the “best” answer - the greater the number of possible solutions,
the higher the quality of the end result.
4) Use an A-Z list
This is a great technique if you have a very specific problem and
want some answers. In this technique, you take a piece of paper,
and list down the left hand side all the letters (A..B…C… all the
way to Z). Now, as quickly as you can, you generate possible
solutions using the letter of the alphabet. For example, if you
wanted to find ways to bring in some extra money, your list
might look something like this, A: Ask my boss for a raise,
B: Bank - get a loan from the bank, C: Call in IOU's… etc.
Again, the `lighter' and more playful you can be, the more
useful possibilities you will generate.
5) Get involved in another kind of creative activity.
This might be something like cooking, painting, or writing- or,
if you have children, taking part in their finger painting or
imaginary games - the more creative you are in your life,
in general, the more creatively you'll be able to solve any
problem or situation.
So my five minutes are up- see you next month!
