Dear Reader,

Welcome to August - I can't believe the summer is almost

over. I've been incredibly busy this summer with getting

several new projects off the ground, and with redefining

my goals for my life. As part of my newfound insights,

I'm beginning a "Tuesday Teleseminars!" series which

will offer 1 or 2 hour telephone seminars on various

topics. These will begin in the Fall, and kick off with

something for those of you who are single: The 7 Internet

Dating Traps and how to avoid them!

And will be followed up with a teleclass series on writing

Expert Articles the get results - for those of you who

own small businesses (whether or not you're single!) :)

I hope you'll find something in the offerings that will

encourage you to join me- I look forward to the opportunity

to work with you.

Know When to Hold Them

"You gotta know when to hold them. Know when to fold them.

Know when to walk away. And know when to run. You never

count your money while you're sitting at the table. There'll

be time enough for counting when the dealing's done."

This snippet from Kenny Rogers' song, "The Gambler" came

to me today when I was thinking about writing this column.

Some weeks, topics just flow out of me - others, it takes a

bit longer to think of something to say. Aside from sharing

too much about my age, (or sharing too much about music

I've listened to J )- this phrase probably occurred to

me today because I was experiencing a few "not quite

rights" in a couple areas of my life. As happens for many

of us, my thoughts kept creeping to these "high contrast"

areas, even when I didn't want to go there.

I kept searching for something to think about that felt better,

and for reasons unknown to me - though maybe known to Something

a lot smarter than me. I was reminded of the song lyrics

I shared above. What this meant, to me, was that, unless

I'd decided that the dealing was done, that there was

still some game left to play so I should get back to

it, and stop thinking thoughts like, "Oh that will never

happen." Or "That's silly".

This week, I invite you to keep playing the game. Know where

to hold them, know where to fold them - and remember - in the

game of life, it's never too late to create a winning hand.
