Rachna's Note
September 2004
Dear Reader,
Hi! I hope this issue finds you well-rested and
refreshed as we gear up for the ninth month of
the year. For those with children - I hope you've
gotten them all back to school and are enjoying
the high energy of back to school activities.
For those, like me, who are looking at your list
of items to accomplish and wondering where the
first 2/3rds of this year went, there's still
a few months left to finish the year off on
a strong note. :)
This month's article reminds us to manage our
energy level and make sure we're always doing
what we can to be happy, healthy, and strong
as we move forward to reaching our goals.
I have a couple new opportunities for you, and
some new resources too - I'm about halfway done
with my next book and am excited to share that
with you in the coming months. If all goes well,
it will be out in time for the holidays.
I want to extend a special invitation to all
my single readers who might be looking for a
roadmap for greater dating success - I'm offering
a "relationship skills for singles" training
starting in October if this resonates for you,
I'd enjoy the chance to work together.
See you next month!
Warmly,
Rachna

Managing Your Energy Level for Success

This month, I’ve become incredibly aware of my
own personal energy cycle, and how it dips and
rises in direct reaction to how I'm being, doing,
and having. For those who understand a bit about
the laws of attraction (like attracts like), you'll
know what I mean when I mention that your level of
personal energy can rise or fall based on the
thoughts you think and feelings you express. And
that these, in turn, are based on how much self
care and other nurturance you provide yourself.
For those of you not as aware of (or as interested
in) the laws of attraction, you can think about
this in terms of your energetically good days—
where you feel focused, confident, happy, and
like you're moving ahead- compared to your
energetically bad days—where you feel unhappy,
overwhelmed, stressed out, and like nothing is
really changing.
At several points in this past month, I woke up
and really, really, really didn’t feel like
showing up for work. Now, because people depend
on me to show up (as is the case for many of you),
I showed up anyway. What I noticed, though, is
that it was more difficult to get new projects
started and I couldn’t wait until the day was
over. In looking back over the month, I realized
that the days that I felt this way often occurred
after I had just met a deadline or had completed
another project. Now that I saw a pattern I felt
like I could relax - I had a reason for why I was
suddenly feeling low energy and not as productive.
So how does this apply to you? If you’re currently
feeling wonderful and full of energy - all aglow with
new ideas, plans, and strategies - keep track of what
you’re doing to support this high level of energy.
Are you eating better or differently? Sleeping more
or less? Spending more time with loved ones? Carving
out more time for yourself? Whatever it is, make a
mental note of it. Whatever you learn, you can then
use this as a guidepost for getting back to feeling
good when your energy next dips (as happens to all
of us). For me, my “feel good” list includes reading
fun books, going to more movies, and trying out
new restaurants. So, instead of pushing against
my own dip in motivation and suffering through —
I’m taking myself out for lunch at a new place
with a book I’ve been wanting to read. I expect
that taking a bit of time away from the office
with the sole purpose of recharging my energy
will help me get much more done when it’s time
to get back to work.
This month, I’d like to invite you to keep track
of what makes you feel energetic, confident,
focused and productive and to do lots and
lots more of it. Manage your energy and you’ll
attain success in love, life, and work, much more
easily.

Kurt writes:
Q: I recently ended a six year relationship with someone
I really loved. She cheated on me when we were together
which is why I ended it. She said she is sorry and would
like to try again. I still think about her a lot. Should I try
and get back together with her? Do people change?
A: Hi, thanks for your email. From what you wrote, it's
tough for me to say that you should - or shouldn't -
try to work things out. A way to figure this out,
though, would be to make a pros and cons list. What
are the pros of trying to make this work? What are the
cons? I know it might sound simplistic, but sometimes,
writing out the pros and cons can help us see if the
actions we're considering are worth pursuing. If you
find that you want to try again, I'd definitely recommend
working with a therapist or relationship coach to
rebuild your trust and intimacy with each other. Also,
have you taken steps to build a life without her? If not,
I'd also suggest taking more actions which make you
happy - this can help you better understand if you miss
her or you miss the sense of happiness you felt before. I
hope this helps you - and good luck.
